Company Spotlight: Design Octaves

We recently were given a tour of Design Octaves by Dan McCabe / President. Dan is a very soft-spoken guy given his 6’4”+ stature. We learned that Design Octaves was founded in 1979 by Norm Weiss. It started out as an engineering model shop, but quickly evolved into a successful large enclosure manufacturing company. Design Octaves specializes in a manufacturing process called RIM (Reaction Injection Molding). This is for custom high-end, limited-run products. It is a fairly new process, and compared to conventional manufacturing molding, but it is an order of magnitude less expensive.

Imagine that you are a startup, a medical or biosciences company needing a several hundred custom cases for your nanopore sequencing devices, or a unique case for your healthy drink dispenser. Design Octaves will work with you to design and manufacture the casing.

Check out the quick video we created: WATCH VIDEO. Design Octaves will present at the December 4, 2019 Santa Cruz Works New Tech MeetUp. And, if you are interested in joining us in January for a group tour, contact us at info@santacruzworks.org
