Empty Bowls, Full Hearts: Fundraiser to Support Teen Kitchen Project's Kitchen Renovation

[Santa Cruz, California] — Teen Kitchen Project (TKP) is excited to announce its upcoming fundraising event, Empty Bowls Full Hearts, scheduled for May 3rd and 4th. These events aim to raise vital funds for TKP's new kitchen renovation project, ensuring the organization can continue its mission of providing nutritious meals to individuals in need within our community.

May 3rd Attendees will enjoy a four course sit down meal prepared by TKP Teen and Adult Chefs. On May 4th Attendees will have the opportunity to select a beautifully handcrafted bowl created by local high school ceramics students and use the bowl to sample a variety of soups provided by local restaurants. These bowls serve as a poignant reminder of the empty bowls faced by those struggling with food insecurity while living with a critical or chronic illness in our community. 87% of Teen Kitchen Project clients live at or below 200% the Federal Poverty line. Guests will then enjoy a simple meal of soup and bread, symbolizing the sustenance provided by Teen Kitchen Project's meal delivery program.

"We are thrilled to host Empty Bowls as we embark on this crucial renovation journey," said Angela Farley, Executive Director of Teen Kitchen Project. "Our current kitchen facilities are no longer adequate to meet the growing demand for our services. With the support of our community, we can transform our kitchen into a space that empowers us to serve even more individuals in need with healthy delivered meals."

Funds raised from Empty Bowls will directly contribute to TKP's kitchen renovation project, which includes expanding workspace, upgrading equipment, and enhancing food storage capabilities. By improving its infrastructure, TKP aims to increase its efficiency and capacity to provide meals to those facing illness, crisis, or food insecurity.

"We believe that everyone deserves access to nourishing meals, especially during challenging times," added Farley. "Empty Bowls is an opportunity for our community to come together, show support for our neighbors, and make a tangible difference in the lives of those in need, while at the same time enjoying some delicious recipes crafted by local restaurants!"
