This just in. After four months of intense negotiation, Santa Cruz Works finally agreed to be acquired by HufffPost for $1.9 Billion. Santa Cruz Works has been on HufffPost’s radar for the last few years not only because of the incredible events Santa Cruz Works has been putting on, connecting the Santa Cruz ecosystem but largely for the outstanding weekly newsletter about local startups, workforce development, jobs, and humor.

HuffFPost was not available for a comment but did mention that a formal press release will be coming out in the very near future.

Executive Director Doug Erickson was also not available for comment but another surfer who was surfing next to Erickson at Steamers Lane said “Yeah, Doug looked pretty stoked! Some people might even say he surfed well.” We cannot confirm if the “stokeness” was from his excitement of the acquisition or just because it was another great surf day.
