SCEE Wins 5 Digit Grant

UCSC’s Student Creativity and Entrepreneurial Empowerment aka SCEE was awarded a 5 digit grant from the Board of Opportunity Fund to expand its programs. SCEE was founded by a diverse group of students who are passionate about innovation and entrepreneurship. Their mission is to bring more students into the world of entrepreneurship.

“We love to think outside of the box, seek new ways to solve problems and create products that challenge the status quo,” explains co-president Aaron Huang. “As a team, our goal is to bring design thinking and the lean startup methodology to UCSC. We want to encourage our peers to become more creative, to empower those students here at UCSC who are creative, not afraid to experiment and fail, and are inspired to change the world. That means bringing mentorship and funding opportunities to this campus. More importantly, our vision is to build a community to facilitate collaboration among students, mentors, and startups in Santa Cruz County.” 

“We hope to continue to work closely with the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIED),” adds Aaron, “as well as the UCSC Foundation, and the Blackstone Group to bring up to 2,000 students into SCEE's programs and events. Overall, SCEE’s mission is to engage with as many students on campus as possible, offer a wide variety of fun yet educational opportunities for our members to do, learn, experiment, and grow into tomorrow’s entrepreneurial leaders. “

SCEE’s annual Slug Tank is on October 24, 2019. Over 50 young entrepreneurs will pitch their ideas to a panel of judges.
