Startup Sandbox Sees Success in 2022

The Sandbox continued operations through the lockdown and fires of 2020, regained momentum in 2021 and is thriving in 2022!
Many entrepreneurs have accessed our website, www.startupsandbox.org, and have become Sandbox member companies. Some are bioscience companies that utilize our biosciences labs and others are dry lab companies that need a space to build their company. Startup Sandbox Members get more than just a place to validate their ideas; they get a partnership.
The Sandbox Success Model is based on three drivers:

A Successful Beginning for Local Startups
In under twenty-four months, the Sandbox graduated ten (10) companies from technical validation to the commercial market. Nine of those companies chose to build their headquarters in Santa Cruz and are an economic engine contributing to the local economy. More companies will join them.
2022 started with a bang and is accelerating. Nooma Bio joined the Sandbox and is validating their technology on nine bioscience benches and an additional closed lab. Professor Emeritus, Nate Newman from Arizona State University rode his bike by Startup Sandbox and rang the doorbell. Now his Paramagtix company is growing from two bioscience benches to as many as ten as he and his team develop products that will enrich our lives. Long-time cyber security inventor Denzil Wessels, who see problems that need solutions, moved his dry lab company Dymium into the Sandbox this week. Dymium will secure data. Cyber warfare is the new battleground.
These companies join Hcare.io, providing health care to your home; Immergo Labs utilizing AI/VR to provide physical therapy, TNeuroPharma focusing on reducing early onset of dementia and Alzheimer’s; VisgenX ending dry macular disease, the leading cause of blindness, SwitchbackSys created a scalable DNA Synthesis Platform. And there are many more companies at the Sandbox and in our pipeline.
