Three local companies have made the Inc. 5000 Series: California, a list of the state’s 250 fastest-growing private companies.

The Inc. 5000 Series: California is ranked by highest revenue increase from 2016 to 2018. This is a regional spinoff of the magazine’s annual Inc. 5000 list, which has been produced every year since 1982. This is the first year that Inc. has launched the Inc. 5000 Series, which recognizes the fastest-growing companies in California, the Washington DC Metro area, Florida, the Midwest and Texas.

Santa Cruz-based Mynt Systems (ranked 60th out of 250) and Warrior Made (ranked 73rd) made the list, as well as engagedIN (ranked 124th) in Felton.

“The companies on this list demonstrate just how much the small business sector impacts California’s economy,” said Inc. Editor-in-Chief Scott Omelianuk in a prepared release. “Across every single industry, these businesses have posted revenue and growth rates that are beyond impressive, further proving the tenacity of its founders and CEOs.”

Mynt Systems, a Santa Cruz-based commercial energy efficiency solutions company, provides site assessment, design, engineering, product management and implementation of energy-efficient projects. Founded in 2014, the company started with three employees and now has nearly 30 employees, according to Derek Hansen, CEO of Mynt Systems. Revenue growth was charted at nearly $1.8 million in 2016 and more than $7.9 million in 2018, according to Inc. Magazine.

Hansen attributes the company’s growth to four things. He said Mynt Systems provides a more holistic approach to energy efficiency and renewable energy, which the company calls “building performance.” Hansen said the company combines industries into one place and has a client-centric approach to energy, meaning it tailors to consumers’ needs. Mynt Systems also hires local talent, keeping Santa Cruz County residents working where they live, Hansen said. Mynt Systems intends to grow throughout California, Hansen said, and is developing a national clientele.

Warrior Made is a health and wellness company that sells online fitness products, including meal plans, cookbooks and supplements. Warrior Made was founded in 2012 and has 33 employees. In 2018, the company’s revenue was roughly $14.6 million, up from about $3.9 million in 2016, according to Inc. Magazine.

Fresh Tri, previously branded as engagedIN, is a behavior-change technology company that empowers users to create healthy habits through a combination of science, technology and design. The company has a habit-formation app, also called Fresh Tri, that guides consumers in building sustainable habits that support their long-term health and well-being. Fresh Tri, at 13001 E. Zayante Road in Felton, has 12 full-time employees.
