Driveways Become a Sanctuary from Wildfires

Wildfires continue to rage throughout California, Oregon and Washington, swiftly displacing thousands of families and devastating many homes. Families are being evacuated, unsure of whether they will return to material homes, or fond memories. Both Covid-19 and smoke-induced health concerns compound the severe vulnerabilities overwhelming evacuees –– both young and old –– and leave families with very few places left to go.

As a platform typically employed to connect those road-tripping in vans and R.V.s. with safe overnight parking in exchange for a payment to their host, Vanly has quickly reimagined and broadened its horizon to support our West Coast family. The Vanly team has recently  implemented a Wildfires Support Program –– an initiative designed to connect evacuees with a safe, comfortable place to park their vehicle(s) and live for the time being.

Need a safe, Covid-free space to live temporarily? The Vanly team has your back! Just sign up for Vanly (it’s free!) and, when getting onboarded, select the option for West Coast Wildfires evacuees.

Have a private parking spot, driveway, parcel of land? Want to help those affected by Northern California’s frightening wildfires? Simply list your space here (it’s free!), choose your availability / amenities / price / guest requirements and host your first guest!

All Vanly hosts now have the opportunity to accommodate those affected by the fires by listing their property for free or for a discounted rate. Guests are expected to follow Vanly’s Covid-19 Health guidelines upon arrival and throughout the duration of their stay.

As residents and deep admirers of Santa Cruz County –– a county which is experiencing its worst fire season in recorded history –– matters of fire safety and comfortable evacuation zones are especially close to home. We have many friends and loved ones who have had to evacuate, leaving their livelihood up to the wind and hoping their home is not one of the 928 buried under a pile of ash. We see and feel the arduous toll this unprecedented fire season has taken on our West Coast family, and are here to support you, your family and your loved ones every step of the way.

Stay safe, stay strong, and take care of each other.

With love,

The Vanly Team
