Cruz Foam Flash Tour Recording

In this flash tour, Cruz Foam CEO and co-founder John Felts explains the history behind Cruz Foam, their plans for expanding operations, and gives a tour of their office located on Mission St.

Cruz Foam is an innovative Santa Cruz based company founded by John Felts and Marco Rolandi to address the plastic pollution problem that has been plaguing our oceans and entire planet. Currently the industry standard for packaging is Styrofoam, a petroleum based, non-biodegradable, and non-renewable material that inevitably breaks up into small pieces, creates harmful air pollutants when exposed to sunlight for long periods of time, and often leeches Styrene, a chemical that is harmful to humans. Styrofoam can be found littered on our beaches, filling up our landfills, and negatively impacting animals and the environment.

Cruz Foam saw the need to create a better alternative and developed an eco-friendly bio-benign foam made from entirely natural ingredients. They pull materials from natural sources to make their foam, with the most notable being Chitin, a highly abundant biopolymer found in shrimp, crab and lobster shells that often goes to waste. It is non-toxic, biodegradable, and sustainable. Cruz Foam has produced a variety of different formulations that are suitable for various applications in packaging and shipping materials, consumer goods, and more.
