Santa Cruz County School’s Commitment to Tech Careers

Santa Cruz County Schools have a new program. Become a Computer Networking and Cybersecurity Expert. The new high-school level Computer Information Systems Courses (CIS) are scheduled for the 2020-21 school year. Working together with Cabrillo College and local companies, the new program promotes a 3-year approach that involves students increasingly in industry as their skills develop. From tours of tech companies to work experience and internships, the necessary skills for a future tech career are taught. The curriculum will focus around entry-level college computer networking fundamentals and computer science basics and cybersecurity in an engaging format with real-world applications. Next to gaining professional experience and getting involved in the thriving Santa Cruz tech community, earning college credits in the process is an added benefit.

  • Students from SLVUSD, SVUSD, SCCS, or Santa Cruz COE are eligible to enroll.

  • Receive up to 12 units of Cabrillo College credit and on-the-job training with Cruzio in Computer Information Systems (CIS).

  • Begin 2020-2021 with IT Essentials Articulated Cabrillo Course (CIS 71) for full year including visits to local IT companies.
